Introduction
The year of 2023 has been buzzed by artificial intelligence with its OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, Microsoft’s Bing Chat, Anthropic’s Claude which have definitely proven to be helpful assistants in various educational and business processes. Even though these AI tools have become friendly buddies for the majority, the recent years have also been filled with educators’ and employees’ anxiety of facing with plagiarism or being replaced. Despite all the prevalent concerns, AI is the future of the world, which cannot be escaped. This review reveals the main benefits AI can bring into education and workplace.
Benefits of AI in Education
Educators’ concerns over plagiarism have been raising together with this speedy advancement of artificial intelligence. However, such concerns should fade away as AI can assist teachers and students in following ways:
- Teachers gain a possibility to avoid a burnout and reduce their workload by creating interactive curriculum and assessments, drafting personalized lesson plans, which can lead to more engaged students and effective teaching strategies;
- When consulting Open AI’s ChatGPT or another generative AI tool, students mainly rely on their low-order thinking skills. However, they must learn to develop an objective point of view and spot misinformation, which requires higher-order thinking skills. In this way, they gain a possibility to boost their critical thinking skills.
Reskill or upskill your workforce?
Even though there has been a buzz over AI in these recent years, and businesses are still early in their AI journey, but goals and strategies for upskilling rather than reskilling their workforces have to be set. Thus, it is worthwhile to understand the main skills that will remain vital in business despite a rapid development of AI:
- Problem-solving and creativity: Employees will need to critically evaluate complicated problems and strive for innovative solutions as AI can only complete repetitive tasks;
- Emotional intelligence: Effective teamwork is not possible without managing human emotions;
- Lifelong learning: adaptation to emerging technologies and new ways of working will become more and more important. Thus, employees and business leaders must always embrace opportunities for continuous improvement.
